1938A young electrical engineer, Herbert S. Foth, organizes a small engineering company in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In the first year, Foth had four members on the payroll. Clients included several municipalities in northeast Wisconsin. 1939 - early 1940sFoth and Patrick Boyd join forces as Foth and Boyd. Company begins long term engineering relationship at Austin Straubel Field (now Austin Straubel International Airport) Mid - 1940sCivil engineer and long-time Brown County Highway Commissioner Arthur Porath becomes a partner. Firm is renamed Foth, Boyd and Porath. Late 1940sFirm employs approximately 24 people. Patrick Boyd leaves the partnership and the business continues as Foth & Porath, Inc. Many municipal clients added during this time including the communities of Weyauwega, Coleman, Wisconsin Rapids, and Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, continue with Foth to this day. 1950Jack Horner, World War I pilot and former Federal Aviation Administration official, joins and forms affiliated company Foth, Porath & Horner. Firm specializes in airport engineering and serves clients throughout the upper Midwest. 1952Major fire destroys Foth & Porath offices in Green Bay. Members move quickly to reestablish operations. 1960sFirm continues steady growth and establishes its first environmental laboratory to support clients' wastewater treatment needs. 1967Joseph Van Dyke joins the firm, now known as Foth & Van Dyke and Associates, Inc. 1970sFoth & Van Dyke's business focus expands significantly to address growing environmental awareness. Services include wastewater treatment, water supply and environmental studies. These services, combined with the firm's traditional civil engineering capabilities are the precursor to today's Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC 1974Consulting Engineers' Council of Wisconsin presents Foth & Van Dyke with an Engineering Excellence Award for completion of the $14 million Shawano Lake wastewater system. 1976Firm's 45 members move to new 13,000 s.f. offices in Green Bay. 1980sFoth & Van Dyke and Associates continues to grow and diversify, adding offices in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin. 1981Joe Van Dyke's son, Steven, succeeds him as Chairman and CEO of the firm, and begins to diversify service offerings. 1982A Food Plant Division is added to serve the process engineering needs of dairy and other food processing clients. Paper industry expertise also expands. The combined resources become the Industrial Division of Foth & Van Dyke, now Foth Production Solutions, LLC. 1985Employment reaches more than 300. 1990sFoth expands geographically throughout Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. 2000 - presentGeographic expansion throughout the U.S., and business diversification continue. Clients include Fortune 500 companies, as well as the U.S. Postal Service. Employment exceeds 500. 2006Foth & Van Dyke changes the operating name of its parent company to Foth. Subsidiary companies include Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC; Foth Production Solutions, LLC; and Foth Asset Management, LLC. 2011Foth Canada Corporation created which expands operations into Canada. |
