Foth was retained by the State of Wisconsin to prepare the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Super Maximum Security Prison in Boscobel, Wisconsin.

Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

An EIS was prepared to evaluate the impact of development of a prison facility on a 30-acre parcel within a 160-acre pine plantation.

Challenges

• Completion of the EIS process within a tight schedule while meeting the needs of the Wisconsin Department of Administration and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce.
• Turning public opposition to the project into public support.
• Resolving conflicts between facility design and the environment to result in benefit to the environment.

Benefits

• Demonstrated minimal adverse impact to the physical and biological environment.
• Positive socioeconomic impact of the facility on the community.
• Construction of the facility will enable the community to enjoy upgraded public utilities.
