Flambeau Mine Reclamation

As part of Foth's 20-plus-year relationship with Flambeau Mining Company, a strategic plan was developed that led to a comprehensive reclamation plan for mine. The mine received United States Department of Labor/ Bureau of Land Management's Hardrock Mineral Award for Community Outreach and Economic Security.

Successful Reclamation

Sulfide bearing waste rock was amended with limestone and used to backfill the mine. The mine site was revegetated with restored wetlands and monitored for groundwater and surface water quality. Monitoring data has shown that groundwater and surface water quality is being protected and that reclamation was successful. In 2007, Flambeau received a Certificate-of-Completion for reclamation, which allowed Flambeau to reduce their reclamation bond by the maximum allowable by law.
