Lower Fox River Restoration, Wisconsin

Foth was retained by a consortium of companies to develop remedial design plans for PCB contaminated
sediments in Little Lake Butte des Morts at the head of the Lower Fox River. The site includes deposits A/B covering approximately 50 acres in Little Lake Butte des Morts.
Challenges:
- Characterization and qualification of PCB contaminated sediments.
- Designing a sediment processing/material staging area limited by land use and access constraints.
- Developing a dredging and capping plan capable of implementation in shallow water depths.
- Designing a cost-effective sediment remediation project.
Benefits:
- Development of an accurate dredge prism through sediment characterization, lessens uncertainty and thereby minimizes project implementation costs.
- Locating a sediment processing/material staging area adjacent to the sediment deposits will mini-mize hauling/pipeline distances, and reduce the cost of land acquisition or lease.
- Development of project construction specifications focused on achieving a cost-effective sediment
remediation project.
