Tray Depalletizer, Singulator (TDS)
Project required the design and manufacture of a depalletizer that was capable of handling very inconsistent products and feeding them into sorting systems. The design required product orientation after depalletizing and prior to sorting.
Challenges:
- Unload a mixed pallet of trays – standard, oversize and half-size.
- Singulate the tray layers to a standard tray conveyor
- Unload at an instantaneous rate exceeding 30 trays per minute
- Limit machine small footprint to less than 200 SF
- Maintain pallet load integrity throughout process
Benefit:
- Automated unloading of mixed tray pallets
- Reduce safety issues and increase ergonomics for operators
- Throughput average rates of 40 plus trays per minute
- Automated singulation of trays
- Small footprint of less than150 SF
Project Included:
- Depalletizer with motor operated pallet lift, stationary vacuum head assembly, and layer transfer sheet
- Singulator with index layer pusher, lift and discharge assembly and merge conveyor
- Controls system with NEMA 12 main cabinet, Allen Bradley family of logic and motor controllers, PanelView 600 HMI and machine mounted pneumatics
- Work platform with side access platform for singulator and depalletizer head assembly
