South Suburban IL, P&DC Integrated Dispatch and Receipt (IDR) Design
The U.S. Postal Service requested the integration of the dispatch and receipt areas of the South Suburban IL, Process and Distribution Center. Foth detailed the IDR equipment layout, the conveyance of mail trays and tubs between dispatch and receipt areas, and provided the integration of the IDR equipment deployed to the site.
Challenges:
- The dispatch areas and the receipt areas are at opposite ends of the facility and the installation of new conveyors, and new equipment requires extensive coordination to avoid process downtime and process conflicts
- Conflict with existing utility, structural members, Look Out Galleries (LOG) and install location of new conveyors and equipment
- High voltage and frequency transients
- Maintaining equipment access and work aisles in tight areas
