Tray Management System Modifications at the San Antonio P&DC

The U.S. Postal service desired to modify the existing tray management system at its San Antonio Processing and Distribution Center.  The facility needed to consolidate operations and make room for new flats processing machines. Foth was contracted to provide the overall system layout, removal and installation plans, and construction specifications

Challenges:

  • Modify the existing tray management and mail processing system to make room for 5 new high speed mail processing machines
  • Minimize disruption to existing mail processing operations
  • Provide in-house storage for equipment as it is removed and saved for reinstallation
  • Reuse as much existing removed material handling equipment as possible

    • 18 mail processing machines
  • Installation of new equipment and machines:
    • 10 right angle cross transfers
    • 2 gravity spiral chutes
    • 20 mail processing machines
