Resin Handling System
A major film producer, needed to install a new coating line to develop the capability and capacity to supply film for a key customer’s new product introduction. The resin handling system for this new line was very complex to feed the seven individual extruders.
Challenges:
- Developing an equipment layout within the limited space available.
- Developing a resin piping layout that was operator friendly and allowed for efficient changeovers.
- Developing the layout of the various piping systems and still allow for operations and maintenance access.
Benefits:
- The system design provided grouping of services to increase operator efficiency.
- Multiple dry air sources maintain the relative humidity of the dried resin throughout the process.
- Primary and secondary trim systems allow for flexibility in the percentage of trim reuse.
- Design incorporated features to help expedite clean-up and changeovers.
Project Included:
- Relocation of existing nylon blending system
- Pneumatic resin conveying system
