Resin Handling System

A major film producer, needed to install a new coating line to develop the capability and capacity to supply film for a key customer’s new product introduction.  The resin handling system for this new line was very complex to feed the seven individual extruders.

Challenges:

  • Developing an equipment layout within the limited space available.
  • Developing a resin piping layout that was operator friendly and allowed for efficient changeovers.
  • Developing the layout of the various piping systems and still allow for operations and maintenance access.

Benefits:

  • The system design provided grouping of services to increase operator efficiency.
  • Multiple dry air sources maintain the relative humidity of the dried resin throughout the process.
  • Primary and secondary trim systems allow for flexibility in the percentage of trim reuse.
  • Design incorporated features to help expedite clean-up and changeovers.

  • Relocation of existing nylon blending system
  • Pneumatic resin conveying system
