The presenter will share the known and estimated degree of impact of PFAS on municipal waste as well as the impacts on facility groundwater and leachate management. Learn what to expect from regulatory agencies moving forward and what facilities should be doing as interest and regulations advance.
From Reactive to Proactive – Communication Planning

Many times, communications surrounding solid waste are very reactive and short-term, which is often educational but does not create the intended behavioral change. The presenters will share techniques and resources for creating a simple, effective, and proactive communication strategy.
Alternative Waste Characterization Sorts
Nate Klett, Lead Environmental Engineer
The basis for all waste characterization sorts and audits should be the ASTM standard D5231-92(2016). Depending on the goal, the process may need to be customized to provide answers for program-level decision making. The presenter will highlight three unique projects (multi-unit dwellings, annual clean-up event, and future technology decision) that applied these standards but customized the process to meet differing goals.
