The State of Wisconsin, Racine County, and Villages of Mount Pleasant and Caledonia successfully attracted a manufacturer from China to locate a new $10B, 22,000,000 square-foot production campus in the area. In addition to providing infrastructure incentives to facilitate the new development, the opportunity for 13,000 new jobs was created. Foth was hired to provide all planning, design, and construction phase engineering for the new sanitary sewer system to serve the development.
Initially retained to assist the Economic Development Corporation in strategy development, site selection and evaluation, preliminary engineering, and presentation assistance, our team was also the State’s engineering representative overseas. As such, we were responsible for coordination and evaluation of pre-purchasing key material items and the overall facilitation of a successful project delivery meeting tight construction deadlines.
The project involved the design and construction of more than 40,000 lineal feet of gravity sanitary sewers, over 40,000 lineal feet of force main, and the installation of a 46 MGD life station. Coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), private utilities, and local, County and State stakeholders was vital and ultimately assisted in saving more than $50M in future infrastructure costs.
